Browsing through YouTube, it so happens that I've found a great reminder of what The Exorcist caused some time ago.

Movie Disappointment #2
It's not from yesterday that I'm attracted to horror movies based on Stephen King's novels. I always find the synopsis very interesting and manage to watch the movies. However, I must admit (I don't know why) I never watch the movies until the end. Every time something happens and stops me from going on.
Even watching part of them, I always get disappointed. I've never read any of his books, so my opinions are based upon all the 2/3 of the movies I watched, except from "It", that is the first movie based on a Stephen book I was able to watch in its entirety.
Apart from being based on a so-called "master of Suspense" novel, I've been wanting to check this one for years, 'cause I have a certain phobia of clowns and their "dark sides" and for many times I heard about the clown in this movie, Pennywise. So last week I finally downloaded it and watched in three parts, which was perfect to allow me to notice something and relate to his other works.
Basically, all King's stories follow three development steps:
1) the beginning: it is always awesome, thrilling; it shows the macabre and presents the plot and main characters. Enjoy it because it's the best part of the movie.
2) the transition: here is when things start to get interesting, most of the times in a bad way. The story that was so good and mysterious loses the enigmatic tone and then goes to a totally new direction. You can't help but feel a little bit lost.
3) the non-sense (also known as "end"): the last part in every movie is supposed to be the best, the most awaited moment, the revelation point. In a "Stephen King" movie it often, somehow, explains the facts by inserting aliens or "things from outer space" in the middle of it. This or something else even more non-sense.
That is, analyzing the elapse of the story, we start with a movie and end up with a totally different one. Frus-trat-ing. "It" comes down to all of this and it wouldn't be necessary to tell something about the movie because, like I explained, I would just be talking about the beginning of it, which seems to have no importance at all. In this movie, the only thing that keeps you going is the relationship of the group of friends, that's very cool to see. How they help and protect each other in different situations and how they still love each one after so much time.
But in the end, it was just another movie disappointment.

True Magic
One of the reasons why I first started to worship Vanessa Carlton is that she is simply original and true to her roots. She is not at all like these artists nowadays who seem to be controlled by their labels/managers and put on a fake smile on their faces or even assume a different identity. She's just unique.
Besides that, what can be better than a real poet who writes about his own experiences and turn it all into awesome music? What to say about the piano and the classic touch she has always given to her music? Well, the focus here isn't the beginning of her career, but her most recent project, "Rabbits on the Run". Destined to be a masterpiece from the start, the album's been gathering good reviews and has elevated her status to another dimension: an indie star. She is a visionary who believes in herself and does it her own way.
This fourth studio album is nothing more than impecable. From the good vibe of "Carousel" to the dark theme of "In the End", Vanessa takes you through a fantastic experience. My favorite song off of it is definitely "Fairweather Friend". Another highlight is the romantically dramatic "I Don't Want to be a Bride".
It also has a choire of children that gives you goosebumps and an awesome guitar on yet another stand out, "Dear California". It's no surprise that the fans are more than satisfied with the long wait. Vanessa never lets her fandom down.
For everyone who kept track of her during the past two years, it is essential to check out the studio versions of songs we already knew from her concerts, like the deep and depressive "London" and "Tall Tales for Spring", which initially was the album's title.
When listening to Vanessa Carlton it is vital to explore the stories behind each song and album production period. She is just like those ancient poets and her music is pure Literature. You need to feel it, understand it and embrace it. So don't forget to check out the inspiration for "Hear the Bells", an almost ghostly track, and the poem that led to "Get Good".
I'm such a hardcore fan of hers that I was already aware of the fact that I wouldn't be able to talk about this record without mentioning all of the songs, which is why I'm gonna finish this by declaring my love for "The Marching Line", an actual march that grows into you and has its heyday towards the end.
I hope from all my heart that we get to see this fantastic artist release more and more records and that I actually get to see her live next year. But what I wish the most is that everyone who appreciates good music will listen to "Rabbits on the Run" and let themselves be entertained with this truly magic set of spells in the shape of a disc.

Reactions #1
How fun is it when we are able to see someone's reaction to something really special or striking, at least for her? This is one of the coolest things YouTube brought us. Every now and then there's a new Twilightish video and we can always check a fan reaction. This time it is the second trailer for "Breaking Dawn - Part 1".
Here is the trailer:
And here is the reaction:
This only proves how awesome a person can be to create a story and by a narrative, make someone feel close and intimate to a character, an imaginary person, and actually get excited about everything regarding this fictional being. Moreover seeing him on the screen!

Horror Games We Love #2
I have already posted about Amnesia: The Dark Descent and on the same post I mentioned I would be doing further posts about other Frictional Games' releases. This is one of them. The game I'll write about here this time is Amnesia: Justine, an extension for the original one.
If you loved The Dark Descent and was craving for more, Justine certainly was a gift for you. Although not being a totally new game, it feels like it. The story is new, at least, and for the most attentive players, it intertwines with the plot of Dark Descent.
This time around you wake up in a dungeon and have as your guide a female voice through phonographs, that introduces herself as Justine. As always, you have to explore the place and try not to be seen or caught by the... By them. I don't like to spoil the surprises.
As a new factor, you also have to save three people imprisoned. Or not. The storyline gets darker and darker until you begin to understand what is actually happening. It is not a long game, I would say it's only 1/4 of the Descent duration. The only difficulty is the first gameplay, because it cannot be saved, as you're soon advised. To make it worse, and kind of to compensate the duration of it, it is way harder than Descent. So if you die, that's it. Start all over again.
The "potato room" got famous among the fans and the ending is somewhat awesome, when we finally discover what Justine was talking about when she cited her cabinet of perturbation. Be prepared.
This game only made me love more and more Frictional Games, and it is a shame to hear that their new game won't be a horror one. But let's wait and see.
PS.: For all the details on Justine story, check this website.
